Communities In Schools’ Annual Golf Tournament aims to help lessen the pandemic’s impact on low-income children

October 15, 2020

Among the hardest hit by the pandemic are K-12th grade children living below the poverty line. Communities In Schools Greenville will be holding their Annual Charity Golf Outing at Holly Tree Country Club on Monday, Oct. 19, 2020, to raise critical, unrestricted funding to serve these children and their families at a time when they need it most.

“During a year that’s been extraordinarily disrupted by a global pandemic, proceeding with this annual event was less about tradition and more out of necessity,” stated Susi Smith, who serves as the President and CEO of Communities In Schools of Greenville. “The ripple effects of COVID-19 have disproportionately impacted low-income children and families. The funds raised through this year’s charity golf event will help to provide food, school supplies, case management services, financial assistance and online learning technology for families and their children living below the poverty line, through Communities In Schools’ engagement within the Greenville County School system.”

The golf event will begin with a shotgun start at noon. In addition to raising funds through the tournament, Communities In Schools will also be holding a raffle. Those participating in the raffle may purchase tickets until 4 p.m. on the day of the event, and winners will be announced at 5 p.m. Raffle prizes have been made available through the generous donations of local sponsors such as Michelin North America, Waingart Wealth Advisors and The Shops at Greenridge. Raffle tickets are available at https://go.rallyup.com/cisgreenvilleraffle
