Credit Unions Support Lowcountry Orphan Relief

N. CHARLESTON, SC – June 26, 2012 – The Charleston Chapter of Credit Unions announced that chapter credit unions will team up behind a single charitable cause in 2012–Lowcountry Orphan Relief Back-to-School Drive.
“Lowcountry Orphan Relief is grateful to the credit unions of Charleston for their commitment to children in need,” said Lynn Young, Founder & Director, Lowcountry Orphan Relief. “Child abuse and neglect is a real problem here in the Lowcountry and when organizations join together they help give those children in need a voice.”
Charleston credit unions are collecting new and gently used school clothing and supplies this summer. Lowcountry Orphan Relief is in need of backpacks, navy and khaki pants (or shorts) and white and navy polo shirts.
“It is time for Charleston credit unions to generate momentum that puts the credit union philosophy of people helping people into action,” said Troy Hall, Chief Operations Officer, South Carolina Federal Credit Union. “We are joining efforts under one thought and one voice, making a difference one child at a time at the local level.”
Community members are encouraged to bring their donation items to any Charleston credit union branch location.
Donations will be collected and provided to Lowcountry Orphan Relief following the Charleston Chapter of Credit Unions’ event on July 19 at Blackbaud Stadium.
