Dorchester County invites Seniors to apply for Tax Work-Off Program
January 30, 2025Dorchester County is now accepting applications for the Senior Citizens Tax Work-Off Program until February 18, 2025. The Senior Citizen Tax Work-Off Program permits senior citizens the opportunity to trade valuable time and needed skills for government services in exchange for compensation equal to their County property tax obligations. Those 60 years old (or older), that own property (in their name) in Dorchester County and reside at that property are eligible to apply.
Senior citizens are compensated at minimum wage (currently $7.25 per hour) for the sum equal to that portion of their property tax bill designated for County Operating, County Debt, and Capital Improvements. The program offers seniors a chance to contribute to their community while offsetting their property tax responsibilities.
For those interested, please visit Dorchester County’s website to apply.
Applications must be turned in by February 18, 2025. Please be sure to include a copy of the property tax bill and driver’s license, or other photo identification as proof of residency.
