Dr. Ramsetty To Lead Roper St. Francis Diabetes Services

CHARLESTON, SC – March 28, 2011 – Anita Ramsetty, MD, has been named Medical Director for Roper St. Francis Diabetes Services.  In this new position, Dr. Ramsetty will lead a comprehensive team of clinicians, including certified diabetes educators, who care for people with any stage of diabetes.
 
“Diabetes is the sixth leading cause of death by disease in the United States, with a new patient being diagnosed every 60 seconds,” said Dr. Ramsetty, who is board certified in Endocrinology and Internal Medicine.  In My new Role as medical Director, I hope to continue the tradition of excellent patient care through our programs at Roper St. Francis Healthcare, with a focus on education and empowerment of individuals with diabetes, while providing the medical support system for patients to take control of this disease.
 
When left untreated, diabetes and its complications can lead to heart and kidney disease, amputation, blindness and other serious and life threatening health problems. Controlling blood sugar levels is critical in order to reduce the complications of diabetes. The Roper St. Francis Diabetes Center offers comprehensive diabetes treatment to help control the disease and prevent or manage the complications that are common to diabetes.
 
The Roper St. Francis Diabetes Center is recognized by the American Diabetes Association for its quality programs and meets National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education.
 
Dr. Ramsetty received her medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine and received post-graduate training in internal medicine at the University of Florida and in endocrinology at Stanford University.   She is currently accepting new patients at Roper Endocrinology, located in Roper Hospital, 316 Calhoun St. in downtown Charleston.  She can be reached by phone at (843) 720-8438.
