John Wright is a dedicated community leader and veteran with a strong background in the military (23 years as a Combat Engineer) and business (founder of Club Buffs and The Gullah Bar). He’s passionate about education, health, and community development, evident through his founding of the Wright Walk to raise awareness about childhood obesity and hunger.

John has received numerous awards for his community service, including the Presidential Award for Excellence in Education and the Jefferson Award. He’s also a radio host on WJNI 106.3 and has served on various boards and commissions, including the Charleston County Historic Preservation Commission. John is known for his charitable efforts, such as organizing a water drive for Flint, Michigan, and hosting a Christmas block party in the Old Village.
