Family Connection announces five new board members

COLUMBIA, SC – September 10, 2012 – Family Connection of South Carolina announced today five new members to the board of directors.

The new members are Dr. Greg Barabell, medical director at Select Health of S.C.; Bo Ivester, president and owner of McDonald Enterprises/ Southern Sales and Services; Charles Krawczyk, member and attorney at Finkel Law Firm, LLC; Antjuan Seawright, president and CEO of Sunrise Communications; and Carolyn Swinton, vice president for nursing practice at Palmetto Health.

“These five new members add depth to our already diverse board of directors,” said Jackie Richards, Family Connection’s executive director. “Through their professional endeavors and passion for our organization’s cause, they will provide guidance and perspective to help Family Connection continue to expand its reach in South Carolina.”

Dr. Barabell joined Select Health of S.C. as medical director in February. He works closely with asthma initiatives for Select Health and across corporate lines. Also he works with the state partnership Quality through Technology and Innovation in Pediatrics (QTIP) for Select Health. Dr. Barabell received his degree in medicine from Upstate Medical University, State University of New York, and completed his pediatric residency with the Medical University of South Carolina.

Ivester became the president and owner of McDonald Enterprises/Southern Sales and Service in 2007. He has been active with Family Connection for several years and served on the organization’s Greenville board from 2003-2007. A native of Greenville, S.C., Ivester graduated from Clemson University in 1995 with a bachelor’s degree in English. He is married to Joy and has three children, Ella, Emily and Will.

Krawczyk has been a member of Finkel Law Firm since 2000 practicing in the areas of Construction Law and Commercial litigation. He is a member of the Florida, Georgia and South Carolina Bar. Krawczyk is the president of the Central League – South Carolina Amateur Soccer Association (CL-SCASA). He graduated from the University of Central Florida in 1988. Krawczyk is married to Elizabeth and has three children, including a child with special needs.

Seawright has led extensive strategic efforts for political campaigns and local clients as president of Sunrise Communications. His past campaign efforts include Hillary Clinton for president and John Spratt for Congress and local work with Palmetto Health and the City of Columbia. In 2011, he was name to South Carolina State Newspaper’s 20 under 40. Seawright graduated from Webster University in 2010 with a master’s in business administration and from Winthrop University in 2008 with a bachelor’s of science in business administration and marketing.

Swinton has worked in nursing for 22 years, with 19 years in management and the past four years as Richland’s vice president and CNO. She is active with many professional organizations, including the American Organization of Nurse Executives and the American College of Healthcare Executives. Swinton received the Amy V. Cockcroft Excellence in Leadership award in 2008 and the Palmetto Gold award in 2005. She is married to John and has two children, Jeffrey and Cara.
