Financial journalist Anna Bernasek to speak on 'Economics of Integrity'

February 21, 2011

CLEMSON, SC – February 18, 2011 – Anna Bernasek, financial journalist and columnist for The New York Times, will speak on “The Economics of Integrity” at noon Wednesday, Feb. 23, at Clemson at the Falls in downtown Greenville and again at 6 p.m. at the Strom Thurmond Institute on campus.

Bernasek is an expert on global financial markets, economics and economic policy. Her work has appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, the International Herald Tribune, Fortune, TIME, The Huffington Post, Australia’s Sydney Morning Herald newspaper and the Australian Financial Review.  She is a frequent guest on radio and television. She has appeared on CNN, CNBC, public television and National Public Radio.

Greg Pickett, interim associate dean of Clemson at the Falls, said Bernasek’s topic is very timely and blends well with the commitment of the MBA students at Clemson.

“The MBA students recently developed their own honor oath for behavior in and out of the classroom and even beyond graduation. They are taking the initiative to better themselves while bettering the world,” Pickett said. “We are fortunate to have Ms. Bernasek participate in our Leadership Seminar Series. Her knowledge and experience provides a first-hand account of how important ethical behavior is in driving bottom-line results for organizations.  In essence, acting with integrity pays.”

The lectures are free, but registration is requested at www.clemson.edu/centers-institutes/spiro/rsvp.html. The noon event is a brown-bag lunch, drinks will be provided.

The Arthur M. Spiro Institute for Entrepreneurial Leadership, the Rutland Institute for Ethics and the Clemson MBA program are sponsoring Bernasek’s visit.
