Fisher Phillips Columbia attorneys ranked in Chambers USA 2016

Six Fisher Phillips partners from the firm’s Columbia office are featured in Chambers USA 2016. This is in addition to 38 other attorneys from the firm nationwide that made the prestigious ranking. The six Columbia attorneys are Michael Carrouth, Daniel Ellzey, Fred Manning, Stephen C. Mitchell, Jonathan Pearson, and J. Hagood Tighe, all of whom were listed for Labor and Employment Law.

Additionally, the Columbia office has been listed as one of the top labor and employment law firms in South Carolina. Fisher Phillips also received this statewide recognition in Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, Ohio, Oregon, and Texas. Each year, Chambers USA publishes a list of the top law firms and attorneys across the United States. It determines rankings through thousands of in-depth interviews with randomly selected attorneys, clients, and businesses.

Mitchell, who is managing partner of the Columbia office, has handled administrative charges and lawsuits in state and federal courts involving all state and federal labor and employment laws. He also represents employers throughout the United States in the traditional labor arena by helping them successfully respond to union organizing efforts, as well as assisting with collective bargaining. Mitchell has been listed in Chambers USA since 2007.

Carrouth has represented clients in responding to union organizing efforts in 29 states. This work includes successfully defending against multi-site and multi-state national organizing blitzes, card-check/neutrality campaigns, and campaigns under the new NLRB expedited election rules. He has also successfully litigated a number of claims of behalf of employers, including non-compete matters and employment discrimination lawsuits. Carrouth has been listed in Chambers USA since 2007.

Ellzey practices both labor and employment law. In the employment area, he counsels clients on all state and federal employment laws, major staff reductions and facility closures, labor law implications of mergers and acquisitions, OSHA compliance, and wage and hour matters. Ellzey has been listed in Chambers USA since 2004.

Manning has extensive experience litigating employment law matters involving civil rights, contracts, and wrongful termination claims. He regularly provides advice and assistance to employers regarding the drafting and enforcement of restrictive covenants, employment contracts and corrective action. Manning has been listed in Chambers USA since 2013.

Pearson’s practice emphasizes employment litigation of all types before state and federal courts, as well as traditional labor law. He has handled lawsuits and administrative charges involving wrongful discharge, Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA and FLSA, as well as many other types of employment-based claims. Pearson has been listed in Chambers USA since 2003.

Tighe practices exclusively in the area of labor and employment law, representing management in traditional labor matters and employment litigation. In addition to counseling and single-plaintiff litigation, he has extensive experience handling class and collective action litigation throughout the United States. Tighe has been listed in Chambers USA since 2007.
