Five Points Association to Postpone St. Pat’s in Five Points

March 12, 2020

Statement from Kelsey Hennighan, Executive Director, Five Points Association:

It is with a profound sense of disappointment that the Five Points Association has agreed to postpone the 38th annual St. Pat’s in Five Points due to concerns surrounding coronavirus.  The Association has been working with Mayor Benjamin to determine the best course of action and sadly postponing the festival was the only option.  The city is, and will continue to be, an essential partner in executing the St Patrick’s Day festival as the event would not be possible without the tremendous support and essential resources the city provides each year.

Despite the disappointment that this year’s event has been postponed, the Five Points Association would like to thank Mayor Benjamin and Councilman Will Brennan for their guidance and advisement during this difficult decision.  While also thanking the Executive Director, Kelsey Hennighan, her staff and all the volunteers that have worked tirelessly to put on this festival despite all the challenges they faced.

“In a short while we will look back and be able to say that either too much or not enough was done to prevent the spread of coronavirus in our city.  While we are devastated to postpone the festival, we are hopeful that this will be a positive step towards ensuring the City of Columbia has done everything in its power to protect our friends and neighbors during this difficult time,” said Five Points Association Board President, Steve Cook.   “St. Pat’s in Five Points will be back – bigger, stronger and greener than ever before!”
