Free PC Repair Clinic at SCC’s Tyger River Campus

November 11, 2010

SPARTANBURG, SC –Spartanburg Community College will host a free computer repair clinic at the SCC Tyger River Campus on Saturday, November 20 in the Tyger River Building, room 108A. The repair clinic will serve the first 30 clients that arrive between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Current SCC students, faculty members and program graduates from the SCC computer technology department will be on hand to solve computer problems. “We’ll fix your computer for free while we work on our degree” is the clinic’s slogan coined by computer technology students.

The clinic is sponsored by the SCC Technology Club and will focus on repairing PC’s and laptops with minor problems.  Student technicians can install new software owners have purchased, make sure computers are free of viruses, diagnose and troubleshoot operating systems problems and/or hardware component problems and improve the speed of operations.

The clinics provide SCC students the opportunity to gain practical experience in dealing with the public and in diagnosing and completing repairs.  Clients receive free service, a chance to ask questions and the opportunity learn more about their computers while the work is being done.

Clients attending the clinics will be greeted by computer technology students that will work with them to complete a repair services information sheet.  Once a course of action has been determined, students will diagnose and repair problems.

SCC faculty members and program graduates who are lead technicians with A+ certification, specific to the computer industry will give final approval for all work completed by students.  No work will be performed without the client’s prior approval.
