Friends of the Greenville Zoo elects new officers

GREENVILLE, SC – July 2, 2013 – The Friends of the Greenville Zoo unanimously elected a new slate of officers for the 2013-14 year.

Elizabeth Geer will serve her second term as chairwoman of the organization.  John Boyanoski will serve as vice chair. Matthew Madden and Phillip Cox will both be starting their first full-year as co-treasurers.

Geer is the director of creative services at Furman University; Boyanoski is the president of Complete Public Relations; Madden is a senior tax manager with Elliott Davis, LLC, and Cox is a senior vice president with Grand Bridge Real Estate Capital.

This group will be leading the Friends of the Greenville Zoo as it embarks on a 20-year master plan to expand and revamp the zoo located off Cleveland Park in downtown Greenville. The Greenville Zoo contributes $9.4 million annually to the local economy.

The zoo’s impact on the Greenville County economy over the years 2012-2025 is projected to average 193 jobs, $11.3 million in output, and $4.2 million in aggregated disposable household income in each year, according to the study. Local governments are projected to average $573,000 per year in net revenue.

The Greenville Zoo has operated within the City of Greenville since 1960.
