Furman University Makes Parade’s “A-List Colleges”

GREENVILLE, SC – August 23, 2010 – Parade magazine has named Furman University to its “A-List Colleges,” a group of schools that high school counselors from across the country agreed offers a “big-league education.” Furman was one of seven colleges listed in the “Liberal Arts” category of the Aug. 22 print edition of the magazine.  The others were Colorado College, Kenyon (Ohio) College, Occidental (Calif.) College, University of the South (Tenn.), University of Chicago and Wesleyan (Conn.) University.

Parade said the “best liberal-arts schools emphasize undergraduate education, providing students with reading, writing and evaluation skills they can use in any job.”According to the magazine, Parade asked “high schools counselors across the U.S. to recommend outstanding schools that often fly under the radar.” 

The colleges were listed in a number of categories, including small and large public schools, private schools, arts programs, business and accounting, health sciences and liberal arts.
