GREENVILLE, SC – February 21, 2012 – A retired Greenville executive has given an airplane and flight training simulator to the Aircraft Maintenance Technology Program at Greenville
Technical College. Gregg Cornell donated the plane he spent many hours building because he has decided to stop flying after more than 40 years of piloting.

Cornell’s donation includes a 2004 Glasair Super II aircraft and a Cirrus II Precision Flight Controls Simulator. We are greatly appreciative of this generous gift, said Carl Washburn, thecollege’s associate dean for transportation.

The simulator will be used tohelp students see what a pilot sees in flight while using aircraftinstrumentation. The aircraft will be used to help students betterunderstand the avionics they will encounter while working on aircraft.

Greenville Tech¹s Aircraft Maintenance Technology Program trains people tomaintain and repair aircraft of all sizes and for all uses. Currently, thereare 122 student enrolled in the program, which is located at the South Carolina Technology and Aviation Center.
