Hampden Clothing expands to 747 Meeting St for e-commerce office

January 13, 2022

NAI Charleston announces the lease of 747 Meeting Street to Hampden Clothing, who will be using the ±7,200 SF space as an e-commerce and distribution retail office. Hampden has been growing their presence on the Charleston peninsula and now has over 40 employees and over 10,000 SF of retail space. They recently purchased 312 King Street (formerly Anne’s) as an extension to their flagship Hampden store and its counterpart shoe store, James, next door. The additional expansion at 747 Meeting will provide more office space that will focus on their booming e-commerce, which is an ever-growing part of their business.

Positioned in the rapidly growing NoMo District, the property was an ideal opportunity for Hampden, since it could provide the square footage needed while remaining centrally located. The site boasts high visibility and easy access to I-26, Hwy 17, downtown Charleston and Mount Pleasant, and it backs up to the future Lowline with an on-site lot for ample off-street parking. It is also within walking distance of many popular dining destinations, major office developments, and retail. The property is a longstanding historic building in Charleston; it was formerly a bottling plant and most recently the Barry Newman building.

“NoMo’s access to restaurants, the future lowline, major highways, and the newest office developments continues to attract the best and the brightest,” said Jack Owens, veteran broker at NAI Charleston, who represented the owner in this transaction.

Sarah Shelley, also of NAI Charleston, represented the tenant Hampden Clothing, LLC. “It was an honor to represent Stacy Smallwood as she continues to grow Hampden’s presence on the Charleston Peninsula,” Shelley commented. “The iconic building is a perfect fit for the internationally recognized boutique, and we are thrilled to welcome Hampden to the NoMo neighborhood.”
