Join the Richland County Recreation Commission for the inaugural Richland County Player of the Year Ceremony

The Richland County Recreation Commission (RCRC) announced the inaugural Richland County Player of the Year – Girls’ Basketball awards ceremony.
When: Thursday, March 24, at 6:30 pm
Where: Parklane Adult Activity Center, 7974 Parklane Road
What: Girls Basketball Player of the Year Award
The winner will be announced during the ceremony. The guest speaker for the event will be Asia Dozier, a Richland County native, who was a two-time State Champion at Spring Valley High School and is now a Coach at Cardinal Newman. Dozier played basketball for the University of South Carolina and was named the Gatorade South Carolina Player of the year.

The following qualifications are required to be nominated for the award:
- Senior varsity basketball player whose school is within the borders of Richland County
- One nominee per high school
- Nominees should have a minimum of 2.5-grade point average in core classes (English, Math, History, Science)
- Nominees must demonstrate excellence on the basketball court and in the classroom and good sportsmanship
- They must be a positive role model for their teammates, classmates, and the community. They must volunteer and be active in community service.
This award is a great opportunity to recognize some of the high school student-athletes in Richland County. The selected winner will receive a $2,000 scholarship for her hard work and dedication on and off the court.
