Immersive Program Designed to Increase Career Exploration and Financial Literacy of Elementary School Students

Junior Achievement of Greater South Carolina announces the launch of JA BizTown Mobile®. This program is designed to equip elementary students with a better understanding of careers and work readiness skills, by allowing them to experience an innovative, real-life simulation while challenging them to successfully manage a town of 20 business and manage their paycheck. The JA BizTown model is demonstrated to raise work readiness and financial literacy skills, and empowerment of students who have experienced the program in other areas of the country.

“Our mission at Junior Achievement of Greater South Carolina is to unleash the limitless potential within our state’s future generations,” stated JAGSC Board Chair, Annmarie Fini. “By bridging classroom education with practical, real-world application, we strive to illuminate the path towards a secure workforce in South Carolina. The launch of this innovative mobile model allows us to extend life-changing work readiness and financial education to students across the state, regardless of their location.”

JA BizTown® combines in-class learning with a day-long visit to a simulated town. This popular learning experience allows elementary school students to operate banks, manage restaurants, write checks, and vote for mayor. Students are able to connect the dots between what they learn in school and the real world.

Casey Pash, President of JAGSC, extended thanks and a call to action saying, “We wouldn’t be able to bring this revolutionary program to South Carolina without the support and dedication of our sponsors and the Junior Achievement of Greater SC Board.
