November 20, 2013

CAMDEN, SC – November 20, 2013 – The Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County (FAC) brings another exciting School Arts Program to students in the Kershaw County School District. Camden High School’s Drama I students are benefiting from a two week dance program during a dance residency sponsored by the Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County’s School Arts Program.

Teaching the class is dance artist, Andrea Levinson,  artistic director of the Sumter Civic Dance Company. Levinson is one of several dancers from the Company conducting 16 weeks of dance residencies in several elementary, middle and high schools in Kershaw County this school year. As a culminating event, the Company will present a morning concert, Don’t Walk-Dance, for students on January 15, 2014. Some students participating in the residency are being invited to dance with the Company during the concert.

The residences are being funded in part by a grant from the South Carolina Arts Commission, which receives financial support from the National Endowment for the Arts.  Additional support for the School Arts Program is provided by a grant from the Camden Junior Welfare League, the Frederick S. Upton Foundation, the School District of Kershaw County, Target Corporation, and contributions from individuals who value arts in the schools.
