Lander Names Director to Lead Workforce and Career Development

Casey L. Cline, a seasoned leader in higher education career and professional developmentservices, has been named director of workforce and career development at Lander University.

In this post, Cline will lead Lander’s efforts to provide experiential learning opportunities outside the classroom and enhance innovative career development services for students. In her leadership of Lander’s Office of Workforce and Career Development, Cline will strengthen and expand relationships with employers, alumni and faculty to coordinate centralized career development, including a comprehensive student employment experience at Lander.

We want to ensure Lander University students have outstanding opportunities for their future careers,” said Dr. Richard Cosentino, president of Lander. “We are pleased that Casey Cline will lead the Office of Workforce and Career Development as Lander continues its efforts to be a regional leader in student career development and exploration.

Cline said she is looking forward to the opportunities of working with Lander students and the community. “As director, I see a unique opportunity to make a direct impact on student outcomes by bridging the gap between their educational experiences and career goals.

Lander’s focus on community engagement, workforce development and fostering career-ready graduates aligns with her own passion for helping students find meaningful career paths and internships, she said.

Cline has an extensive background in counseling and higher education experience. She joins Lander’s staff after serving as director of career and professional development at Newberry College, where she was an adjunct professor, and working in career service positions at Midlands Technical College and Columbia College.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in art therapy at Mercyhurst College and master’s degrees in clinical art therapy and higher education student affairs administration, both from Nazareth University.

Cline became a board-certified art therapist in 2004 and a licensed creative arts therapist for the state of New York in 2006. She has earned certification as a global career development facilitator and is a licensed professional counselor in South Carolina.

Cline is a member of the National Career Development Association, and a member of the National Association of Colleges and Employers, as well as its South Carolina affiliate association. She is also a member of the South Carolina Art Therapy Association.

Cline spearheaded the effort for Newberry College to receive a Connection Points grant from the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce. She has earned numerous awards in recognition of her work and has volunteered with community organizations in Columbia and Rochester, New York.
