Lead Academy Early Act First Knight Service gets official Charter

GREENVILLE, SC – February 8, 2013 – The Rotary Club of Greenville’s President Elizabeth Lyons gave the official charter to the Lead Academy Early Act First Knight Service Club Thursday night.

The intent of the club is to be the practical application of the character education the kids are learning on a day to day basis. The academics of Early Act First Knight Service Club (EAFK) will teach children why we serve and the program’s Rotarian-led student service clubs will teach them how it’s done.

Conferring twice monthly for 30 minutes and conducted like a traditional Rotary meeting, the service club consists of student officers and class reps who identify philanthropic needs, plan solutions, and then direct the entire school in facilitating one local and one global service project per year.

“The club will offer the kids invaluable leadership experience, Lyons said.

There are officer positions within the club and each officer applied and interviewed with the principal and a panel of local professionals from The Rotary Club of Greenville.  The officers are:  Madison “Grace” White, president; Jesus Lopez, vice president; Seth Hawkins, recording secretary; Hannah Joy White, corresponding secretary, and Justice Collins, treasurer.
