The Lowcountry Affiliate of South Carolina Association for Volunteer Administrators will present a one-day training from 8:30am to 4:30pm on Oct 23 at Cypress Hall, Wannamaker County Park.  This training, titled ‘The Future is Now:  Tech Trends for 2020 and Beyond’ will focus on understanding emerging and future technologies and how to utilize these in your organizations.  Designed for those who engage volunteers, service delivery programs, and non- profits, this one-day training event features four internationally known speakers.    The training presentations will be broadcast live in the United States and Canada on October 23 from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada to North Charleston, SC.  Participants will receive handouts, worksheets, and will connect and network with hundreds of their peers on a face to face and electronic level at over 40 remote locations across the United States and Canada.

The LASCAVA Team is excited about hosting this professional development opportunity.   “This is a great opportunity to bring national and international speakers and trainers directly to our community. With many of our community agencies working with limited resources, we can provide a quality learning experience without our local participants having to travel.”  Attendees will also receive credit for recertification of the Certified Volunteer Administrator credential (CVA), an international professional credential for those who manage volunteers and/or programs.

Hosted by Dana Cory Litwin, CVA is a San Francisco based transformational coach, strategic advisor, and public speaker with a background in team building and environmental conservation.  Dana will lead discussions with the presenting team and facilitate the international
discussions via twitter and the live-stream feed.

Faiza Venzant CVA,CVRM will present ‘The BIG 4:  Ways to Engage Volunteers As ‘Triangle Supporters’ transforming volunteers through the use of technology, focusing on diversity and inclusion.

Liza Dyer, CVA will present ‘I, For One, Welcome Our New Robot Volunteers: How To Prepare Your Organization For The Robotic Workforce’ Liza will take you on a tour of where we are now and where we’re headed in our future.

Rob Jackson, CVA will present ‘World of Mouth’ in an increasingly technological world, perhaps we think that personal interaction like word of mouth is old fashioned. Not so! Technology and social media allow us to embrace world of mouth, word of mouth on digital steroids.

Erin Spink will present on Becoming a Data-Informed Volunteer Engagement Professional’.  The future of the Volunteer Engagement profession lies in better capturing and using data to inform our practice. We must move beyond the basic and dangerous metrics most of us currently track, like volunteer hours and numbers, and begin to tell a more compelling story and we must begin tapping into new ways of collecting it. Technology is what will facilitate this.

The cost to attend this training is $ 25 and includes lunch and beverages. Space is limited, so participants are encouraged to apply no later than Oct 16.
