Main Street Laurens Launches Search for New Executive Director

With the recent departure of Jonathan Irick as Executive Director of Main Street Laurens, the organizations is now searching for his replacement. Irick was an integral part the revitalization of downtown Laurens for 17 years but has taken a position as Staff Assistant for Main Street South Carolina, working with the Main Street SC Director, Jenny Boulware, to help grow the Main Street SC Program and advance their work to support community driven, preservation-based economic development.

Main Street Laurens is a thriving non-profit organization based in historic downtown Laurens, SC. Established in 1996, Main Street Laurens utilizes the Main Street Four Point Approach to preservation-based economic development.

Main Street Laurens is seeking a highly motivated revitalization and property development expert as the next Executive Director.

Under the supervision of the MS Board, the MS Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the MSL strategic plan and the Main Street program. The Director functions with considerable independence in job related activities and is held accountable for demonstrating results and downtown revitalization impact.

Main Street Laurens has over 25 years of downtown revitalization success through volunteer engagement and community partnerships.

Salary range = 48-53K based on qualifications

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of the Main Street Four Point Approach
  • Knowledge of basic business management procedures and practices. Quick Books experience preferred.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to provide concise and articulate reports and presentations to a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively within deadlines and delegate work tasks when appropriate.
  • Ability to work occasional weekend events; typically, one per quarter.
Ability to stay organized while working on numerous initiatives at once.
Skills in utilizing social media for community promotion. Experience in Canva required.
  • Skills in building and maintaining effective working relationships with public officials, business owners, landlords, various professionals, community groups and the general public along with the ability to influence others to work cooperatively.
  • Bachelor’s degree and/ or previous years of experience in urban planning, marketing public or business administration or similar relevant field of study preferred.
  • Ability to remain discreet and diplomatic required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaboration with city staff and officials and partner organizations as well as governing board
Representation of the program within the community, region and nationally
  • Management of the Main Street Program and implementation of the Annual Work Plan
