MUSC’s Dr. David Geier installed as AOSSM Chairman, Public Relations Committee

Charleston Sports Medicine Physician and Blogger Begins Fifth Year of AOSSM Board Service
 
CHARLESTON, SC – July 7, 2011 – C. David Geier, Jr., MD Orthopaedic Surgeon and Director of Sports Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) will be installed as Chairman of the Public Relations Committee for the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM) during the Society’s Annual Meeting in San Diego, California (July 7th-10th).

“I have always enjoyed discussing injuries and important sports medicine topics with the media,” said Geier. “As Chairman of the PR Committee, I want to help AOSSM become the most trusted resource for sports medicine information and strengthen bonds with sports organizations across the United States.”

Since 2007, Dr. Geier has been an active member of AOSSM having served on the Public Relations and Technology committees. He is also a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American College of Sports Medicine, Willis C. Campbell Club, Charleston County Medical Society, South Carolina Medical Association, Southern Orthopaedic Association and the STOP Sports Injuries campaign – an initiative AOSSM helped to create.

“AOSSM has always been a world leader in sports medicine,” said Geier. “With the STOP Sports Injuries campaign, I hope to help AOSSM create awareness of youth sports injuries and prevention methods to the media and to coaches, parents and athletes across the world.”
