Nonprofit Leadership Development Program Class of 2012

COLUMBIA, SC – August 21, 2012 – The Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina announces the 2012 class of the Carolina Academy for Nonprofits’ Leadership Development Program.
The Nonprofit Leadership Development Program is designed for a wide range of nonprofit leaders in organizations across the state. This five-month program provides nonprofit leaders the opportunity to enhance personal leadership skills to lead within nonprofit organizations in South Carolina.
The Nonprofit Leadership Development Program Class of 2012 includes:
- Katie Bullard, leadership giving associate, United Way of the Midlands
- Zenica Chatman, director of communications, Souper Bowl of Caring
- Brenda Dooley, executive director, LowCountry Habitat for Humanity
- Sherry Lewis, director of therapy and outreach services, Sexual Trauma of the Midlands
- William Loyd Jr., executive director, Midlands Community Development Corporation
- Brian Thomas, senior pastor, NorthStar Christian Center
- Lasima Turmon, volunteer executive director, GVW Community Investment Corporation
“We congratulate and welcome these leaders selected to participate in the Nonprofit Leadership Development Program,” said Tom Keith, president of the Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina. “Through this program, individuals will be equipped with the skills and tools to not only lead today, but to prepare for the future.” While the program is free for participants, they must go through an application process and only a small number of participants are selected each year.
The Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina’s Carolina Academy for Nonprofits leverages training and educational opportunities to meet the needs of multiple nonprofit organizations addressing poverty in South Carolina. The Foundation goes beyond grant making and provides nonprofits with tools and resources for success in different areas. This includes free daylong workshops in a variety of areas including board governance, ethics, evaluation, financial management, grant writing and partnerships and sustainability.
