Registration continues for Young Artists Workshop
September 24, 2008COLUMBIA, SC – September 24, 2008 – The University of South Carolina department of art’s Young Artists Workshop will offer seven Friday-afternoon classes from Sept. 26 to Nov. 14 for children ages 6-17.
Classes will not be held on Oct. 10.
Taught by art-education students under the direction of Kimberly Mahle, the classes will be held 4 – 5:30 p.m. in McMaster College, at the northeast corner of Senate and Pickens streets.
Available classes are “Drawing, Painting, & More” (ages 6-7); “Drawing, Painting, & Ceramics” (8 – 9); “Drawing, Printmaking & Mixed Media” (10-12); and “Printmaking, Fiber Arts & Mixed Media” (13-17).
Artistic ability is not necessary, although children should be interested in art. Students will practice visual problem solving and gain experience in the production, evaluation and appreciation of art. The workshop will end Nov. 14 with an exhibition of the students’ art and a reception in McMaster College.
The cost is $65 per child and $55 for children of USC faculty, staff and students. Space is limited.
