COLUMBIA, SC – September 24, 2008 – The University of South Carolina department of art’s Young Artists Workshop will offer seven Friday-afternoon classes from Sept. 26 to Nov. 14 for children ages 6-17.
Classes will not be held on Oct. 10.
Taught by art-education students under the direction of Kimberly Mahle, the classes will be held 4 – 5:30 p.m. in McMaster College, at the northeast corner of Senate and Pickens streets.
Available classes are “Drawing, Painting, & More” (ages 6-7); “Drawing, Painting, & Ceramics” (8 – 9); “Drawing, Printmaking & Mixed Media” (10-12); and “Printmaking, Fiber Arts & Mixed Media” (13-17).
Artistic ability is not necessary, although children should be interested in art. The workshop will end Nov. 14 with an exhibition of the students’ art and a reception in McMaster College.
The cost is $65 per child and $55 for children of USC faculty, staff and students. Space is limited.
