Saint Frances Animal Center named Grand Marshal for 2026 Georgetown Christmas parade

The Georgetown Business Association (GBA) announced that it has selected Saint Frances Animal Center to serve as the Grand Marshal for this year’s Christmas Parade in Georgetown. The parade will take place on Saturday, December 5, 2026, beginning at 11:00 AM.
Organizers chose to honor the non-profit organization for its heroic dedication to animal welfare, highlight its tireless work in connecting pets with loving families, and celebrate its extraordinary response during recent local rescue efforts. When more than 100 animals urgently needed care, Saint Frances stepped up without hesitation, mobilizing staff, volunteers, and resources to offer safety and healing.
“Saint Frances Animal Center represents the very best of our community,” said Greg Metcalfe, owner of SOCO Grille and GBA President. “Their dedicated team and passionate volunteers show up every single day with endless compassion. In moments of great need, they lead with heart—and our community has matched that energy through an incredible outpouring of adoption support and local business fundraisers. Naming them Grand Marshal is our way of saying thank you for their unwavering leadership and positive example.”
The parade anchors a full season of holiday festivities downtown: 
- Annual Christmas Tree Lighting: Friday, December 4, at 6:00 PM in Francis Marion Park. The Georgetown 250 Committee will light the tree, celebrating a historic year marking the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution.
- Georgetown Christmas Parade: Saturday, December 5, at 11:00 AM through historic downtown.
- Community Ice-Skating Rink: Saturday, December 12. The popular winter attraction returns for a day of family fun.
The Christmas planning committee is incorporating a special patriotic theme across all of this year’s holiday festivities to cap off the 250th anniversary year. Further entry details and schedule announcements will follow in the coming weeks.
