Sylvan Learning Center announces November’s teacher of the month

November 14, 2019

Rashmi Kulasekera has been named Sylvan Learning Center’s teacher of the month.

Kulasekera, a fulltime employee of General Electric, began working at Sylvan of Greenville in July of 2019. With a Master’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech, Kulasekera has built up a positive rapport with Sylvan’s math students along with the attendees of their ACT and SAT prep courses. Despite not working full time in academia, Kulasekera makes a point of putting Sylvan high on his list of priorities.

“Recently, we asked Rashmi if he could come in earlier than normal,” said Wendy Green, Center Director for Greenville. “He was able to rearrange his work schedule to be here early, saving us a lot of rework in our schedule.”

Kulasekera enjoys the platform Sylvan provides him to help students find their passion for math and science. Along with being an avid reader and college football fan, Kulasekera spends his free time binge watching TV and playing board games with friends.

Sylvan Learning Center has spent the last 40 years as the leading provider of personal learning for students in grades K-12. With the help of passionate teachers such as Rashmi, Sylvan offers a range of tutoring services framed to empower students and encourage a love for learning.
