TATT to Host Forum on “Keeping The Upstate a Great Place to Raise a Family”

UPSTATE, SC – April 26, 2012 – Ten at the Top, an organization created to foster collaborationand partnerships across the Upstate, will focus the second Our UpstateVision Forum of 2012 on “Keeping the Upstate a Great Place to Raise aFamily.” The forum, which is free and open to the public, is being held from 3-5 p.m. on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at the Community Theatre ofGreenwood (110 Main Street, Greenwood) with a networking receptionfollowing in the Federal Building Courtyard.
The Forum will focuson some of the key issues that impact the ability to keep the Upstate agreat place to raise a family including education, recreation andnatural resources, cultural programs, community vibrancy, and workforceand job development. The program will include a look at currentstrengths and weaknesses of the Upstate in different areas associatedwith quality of life and what is necessary for the region to meet future needs.
Also included in the program is a presentation by Greenwood City Manager Charlie Barrineau and Greenwood County Economic Development DirectorMark Warner, illustrating Greenwood’s plan to meet current and futureneeds in the areas of economic development, downtown redevelopment, arts and culture, parks and community, and festivals and activities.
In addition, Richard Whiting of the Greenwood Index Journal willmoderate a panel discussion featuring educational leaders and businessprofessionals from the Upstate who each have a different viewpoint onthe role education has in the community and in workforce development.

Dr. Thomas Moore – Chancellor, USC-Upstate
Camie Patterson – Chief Operating Officer, Self Regional Healthcare
Dr. Ivan Randolph – Superintendent, Abbeville County Schools
John Thompson – Hydraulics Division, Eaton Corporation
The forum is the second of a series of four regional forums that Ten atthe Top will host in 2012 at locations across the Upstate on issuesrelated to various components of the Our Upstate Vision.
