New Partnership Offers Tech and Space Communities Forum for Increased Collaboration

WASHINGTON, DC – June 30, 2009 –  TechAmerica today announced that it will host the Space Enterprise Council, a leading authority on issues affecting the domestic space industry.  The two organizations will cooperate on policy issues important to the space industry and technology community as well as on events and other programs, thus enhancing the services TechAmerica offers its members interested in these issues.

“Space will only continue to grow as a place of enterprise and where new innovations will be deployed to enhance our economy and our national security,” said TechAmerica President Phil Bond. “The technology and space industries are integral to each other, and this partnership will allow our members to increase collaboration on a number of key concerns including innovation policy, STEM education, competitiveness, and export controls.”

TechAmerica will provide the Space Enterprise Council with an operating infrastructure but the latter will continue to operate as an independent organization.

“High tech got us to the moon, developed space and will deliver the nation’s next generation of launch vehicles,” said David Logsdon, Executive Director, Space Enterprise Council. “The space industry’s close ties to the technology community make this a natural partnership and a united front to promote and defend the critical importance of investing in space exploration.”
