The Cliffs announces personnel updates amidst exciting growth

August 4, 2022

The Cliffs is pleased to announce an important personnel change. Kyle Caudill, the respected General Manager (“GM”) for the past five years at The Cliffs at Keowee Falls (“Keowee Falls”), has assumed the same title at The Cliffs at Keowee Springs (“Keowee Springs”). Thomas Miller (“Tommy”), a Certified Club Manager (“CCM”) by The Club Management Association of America (“CMAA”) and a certified member of PGA Professional Golf Management (“PGA PGM”), has taken over the GM position at Keowee Falls.

Two game changing amenities will be opening next year at Keowee Springs, the Hart Howerton-designed Clubhouse and the Lake|Flato-designed Lake Club at The Landing. These facilities will serve to support and elevate Club operations, help attract and retain the best possible staff while providing them the resources to operate at a high-quality level for members and their families and provide the best opportunity for a superb member experience. With so much change happening over the next year and a half at Keowee Springs, it is vital to have a leader who understands the operating model at The Cliffs and can best prepare their team for transitioning the operation into the new facilities. Kyle has been a capable and inspiring GM at Keowee Falls and is singularly positioned to excel and grow as a leader with this transition. Tommy comes to The Cliffs with an impressive background in private club management and will seamlessly assume the head role at Keowee Falls.

“Kyle has been an integral part of The Cliffs’ family for the past five years and we are really looking forward to his stewardship of this incredibly exciting, but complex, next stage at The Cliffs at Keowee Springs. Tommy brings a wealth of experience from some of the top companies and clubs around the country and we cannot wait to see him share his unique and valuable insights at The Cliffs at Keowee Falls,” said Rob Duckett, President of Operations for South Street Partners.

Kyle has 20 years’ experience in the country club industry with the Walt Disney Company and ClubCorp. During his tenure with ClubCorp, Kyle held several management positions including Food and Beverage Director, Events Coordinator, Head Golf Professional and Fitness Center Manager. He also has extensive experience in golf operations training, food and beverage, accounting and business systems and has played a vital role in membership growth programs. Kyle has won eight national awards out of ClubCorp’s 300+ clubs. He is married to his wife of 11 years Emma, and they have two boys, Camden (age 5) and Cooper (age 2).

Known for his palpable energy and excitement, Tommy’s passion for the golf and club industry started with his first full-time job at a municipal course at the age of 17. His positive attitude and love for golf led him to pursue his PGA PGM certification, and then the CMAA’s prestigious CCM program while growing his professional career. He has played 66 of the top 100 golf courses in the U.S. – Shinnecock is his favorite – and after twenty-two-plus years in golf club management, he says what he still loves the most about his job is taking care of people. Tommy comes to The Cliffs from the El Dorado Country Club in Dallas, Texas where he served as the GM. He previously worked for Troon Golf Management as GM at Pine Ridge Golf Club in Coram, NY, and Country Club at Woodbridge, in Woodbridge, CT.

Tommy and his wife Sara have four girls, Tessa, Penelope, Maddy, and Mazie all under the age of six. The Millers are excited to move to South Carolina and try the barbecue here, as well as continuing their search for the best pizza in the United States. Along with playing the premier 100 courses in the country, another family goal is to eat at all 100 top pizza parlors in the U.S. Of the 55 they’ve sampled so far; Prince Street Pizza in New York City is the winner.
