The TD Charitable Foundation awards $5,000 to Charleston Promise Neighborhood

In July, 2020, Charleston Promise Neighborhood (CPN) was awarded a $5,000 grant from the TD Charitable Foundation for core programmatic supports.
TD Charitable Foundation is committed to driving positive change through its work with nonprofit organizations that enrich the lives of its customers across the diverse communities it serves. The Foundation is further committed to supporting nonprofits that work to provide safe environments for children to grow academically, socially and developmentally. CPN is driven by the belief that the success of our children and the strength of the community go hand in hand. Their needs are inseparable and must be addressed together in order to break the cycle of generational poverty, and to give our children a real shot at achieving the promise of equity and opportunity. In turn, CPN provides these whole child tenets of service within our schools, working to ensure that each child, in each school, in our community is healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and challenged.

About Charleston Promise Neighborhood
Incorporated in 2010, Charleston Promise Neighborhood (CPN) was founded by Charleston County, the cities of Charleston and North Charleston, and the Charleston County School District (CCSD), and was created to ensure that every child and family has the supports needed to thrive. CPN’s intent is to transform a 5.6 square mile area known as the “Neck”, in partnership with residents, which has been lagging behind in economic, educational and social indicators for the last 25 years. To combat these challenges, CPN implements evidence-based initiatives in four Title I CCSD elementary schools–Chicora, James Simons, Mary Ford, and Sanders-Clyde–to provide additional opportunities for our students to learn, thereby closing opportunity gaps and accelerating achievement.
