Tri-County Tech president to be honored at Clemson University graduation exercises

CLEMSON, SC – August 10, 2011 –  Ronnie L. Booth, president of Tri-County Technical College, will receive an honorary doctorate during Clemson University’s graduation exercises at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, in Littlejohn Coliseum.

All five of Clemson’s academic colleges will participate in the single ceremony. About 690 degrees will be conferred.

Booth is being recognized for his achievements in higher education and economic development. Under his guidance, Tri-County Technical College has partnered with Clemson University on the Bridge to Clemson Program, which allows academically talented freshmen to attend Tri-County Tech for one year, then transfer to Clemson their sophomore year.

He is on the economic development and alliance boards for Anderson, Pickens and Oconee counties; the Upstate Alliance board; Anderson Chamber of Commerce board of directors; Workforce Investment Act Board; Community Colleges of Appalachia Board; Pendleton Regional Education Center Advisory Board; President’s Advisory Board at Clemson University; and Collins Children’s Home and Family Ministries Board.

Booth earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and accounting, a master’s degree in education and a doctorate in educational leadership and policies from the University of South Carolina. He also holds a master’s degree in theological studies from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.

He became president of Tri-County Technical College in 2003 after almost 20 years of administrative experience at various institutions of higher education.
