COLUMBIA, SC – January 28, 2011 – Turner Padget Graham & Laney, P.A. is pleased to announce that two of its attorneys have been named among South Carolina Lawyers Weekly’s “Emerging Legal Leaders” for 2011. Shannon Furr Bobertz, a shareholder in the firm’s Columbia office, and Nosizi (Nosi) Ralphata, a Charleston-based attorney, were two of 10 attorneys selected from a pool of 18 finalists for the honor. The complete list of winners will be published in South Carolina Lawyers Weekly on January 31.

“We are extremely pleased that South Carolina Lawyers Weekly has selected two Turner Padget attorneys among the best and brightest in the state for inclusion on this list,” said Edward W. Laney IV, chief executive officer of Turner Padget. “Our firm prides itself on our commitment to encouraging and promoting the efforts of our ‘next generation.’ Both Shannon and Nosi have demonstrated outstanding knowledge of the law and commitment to client service. Their leadership within our firm and the community are worthy of this recognition.”

Ms. Bobertz was appointed as a shareholder of the firm earlier this month. She focuses her practice in torts and insurance, municipal law and insurance coverage law. She has defended numerous cases to verdict involving personal injury, bad faith litigation, property damage and general torts. She is a former adjunct professor for legal writing at the University of South Carolina School of Law. Ms. Bobertz earned her undergraduate degree from Cornell University and her J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law.

Ms. Ralephata is an experienced trial lawyer who handles litigation in a wide range of substantive areas. She has been a resident of South Carolina since 1999, bringing her international perspective to Turner Padget as a native of Zimbabwe.

South Carolina Lawyers Weekly selected 10 attorneys who have practiced for 10 years or less from around the state for inclusion in its inaugural list, based on “outstanding leadership in their profession, community and personal lives.” The “Emerging Legal Leaders” were nominated by clients, colleagues or their firms, and the winners were announced at an awards ceremony last night at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.
