Becoming a Level 5 leader is not easy.
Once you attain it, you must renew it every day.
Level 5 leaders never rest on their laurels.
Have you read “Good to Great”?
In it, Jim Collins tells how Level 5 leaders do it.
Believe it or not, they were not born that way.
They came up a ladder that’s available to you and me.
To reach Level 5, here are the five rungs to climb.

Level 1 — Highly Capable Individual.
You use your talent, skills and work ethic.
You are the kind of person all of us want to hire.
You are the kind we groom to climb the ladder.

Level 2 – Contributing Team Member.
You work effectively with others.
You set and achieve common objectives.
Your individual skills help achieve team’s goals.

Level 3 — Competent Manager.
You’re a respected teacher and boss.
You guide your people to complete each mission.
You manage resources effectively and efficiently.

Level 4 — Effective Executive.
You stimulate high performance standards.
You catalyze your team’s commitments.
You lay out a clear and compelling vision for them.

Level 5 — The Ultimate Leader.

You build enduring greatness through your example.
You display common sense and personal humility.
Your will to excel inspires others.
You give credit for achievement to others.
You take responsibility when anything goes wrong.
You are pragmatic about all challenges.
You have a strong faith that your team will prevail.
No obstacles are too great to be overcome.
