WebsterRogers’ Bultman is a SCACPA Award Recipient

FLORENCE, SC – December 1, 2008 – Regional accounting and consulting firm WebsterRogers LLP has announced that a firm partner emeritus, D.G.F. Bultman, CPA of the Sumter office, was recently given the Public Service Award by the South Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants (SCACPA).
Carroll Webster, WebsterRogers’ managing partner, made the presentation and said, “The mark of a true professional is devotion to the public good. An outward indication is the many hours South Carolina CPAs give to their communities – over and above their working hours. Each year, SCACPA recognizes a member who has reached high achievement in public service and made significant contributions to their local community.
“This year’s recipient of the Public Service Award is Deuward Bultman. Deuward has been a practicing accountant for over 50 years and is partner emeritus with WebsterRogers. He joined SCACPA in 1955 and is a Life Member. He was recognized by AICPA in 2006 for 50 years of membership.”
Bultman attended The Citadel his freshman year. When World War II began, he joined the Army Air Corps. He was flying B-17s and B-29s at the age of 19. He was recalled to duty with the United States Air Force during the Korean War, and flew jet fighters.
After World War II ended, he enrolled in the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was a member of Zeta Psi fraternity, the swim team, and the Monogram Club. He received a BS degree in commerce.
After returning to Sumter, he worked at the family grocery store, Ducker & Bultman, and later for Sigmund Stoudenmire, certified public accountant. He subsequently opened his own CPA firm, and eventually merged into Benson, Bultman, King and Palmer. Through a subsequent merger, he became associated with WebsterRogers.
Bultman served with the Sumter Planning Commission, Sumter County Commission on Higher Education (USC-Sumter), USC-Sumter Partnership, Wilson Hall School, Saint James Lutheran Church, Sumter Jaycees, Sumter Rotary Club, Sumter Committee for Progress, and Sumter YMCA.
He and his wife, Helen, have been married 57 years and have five children, three daughters and two sons. There are six grandchildren and one great grandson.
