‘Conduct the Phil’ at Soda City Saturday September 22

September 21, 2018

‘Conduct the Phil,’ a community engagement program by the SC Philharmonic will return to Soda City Market at the corner of Main and Hampton Streets from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

This Saturday, September 22, we are bringing ‘Conduct the Phil’ back to Soda City Market from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. We invite the media to join us and see this program in action. This performance is free and open to the public. The orchestra will be set up in front of the Wells Fargo building near the corner of Main and Hampton streets for one hour.

“‘Conduct the Phil’ is a fun way for people of all ages and backgrounds to experience what I am fortunate to experience every time I step in front of an ensemble. You are placed right in the middle of all the musical action, perhaps similar to being right on the sidelines during a football game as opposed to watching it from the stands or on TV. If you are adventurous, feel free to experiment – make the orchestra go faster, slower, louder, softer, etc,” said Music Director, Morihiko Nakahara.

This performance of ‘Conduct the Phil’ is one week in advance of Dazzling Debussy, our season opening concert for our 2018/2019 Masterworks Series. Tickets are on sale at the Koger Center Box Office now through September 29. For a full listing of the 2018/2019 season, click here.

Soda City is one of the many venues at which we perform ‘Conduct the Phil.’ Other venues include the Babcock Center and the Department of Juvenile Justice. Our musicians head off the stage and into our community to grow audience participation and connectivity with symphonic music.
