1×1 Design turns five

On June 1, 2016, 1×1 Design marks the fifth anniversary of the firm. Since the establishment of the company, 1×1 Design has concentrated on completing innovative projects, cultivating strong client relationships, and developing the professionals whom it employs. The team has developed a portfolio of work which spans many market segments and across six states.
“Looking back at the start of the company, I had no idea we would have the opportunities to work with the variety of clients, complete the diversity of projects, nor be joined by the talent that we have on our team,” states Asheley Scott, firm President. “As we reflect on the past five years, we look forward to finding ways to say ‘thank you’ to all the teammates and cheerleaders we have had that have made the story of 1×1 Design what it is and what it may become. I continue to be humbled by the challenges we are privileged to tackle and the lessons we all learn each day about much more than just this profession.”
The 1×1 Design team has been honored to complete, or have projects in progress, for clients which include South Carolina Student Loan, Pasta Fresca, University Foundations at the University of South Carolina, Palmetto Club, Jamie Scott Fitness, General Information Services (GIS), United Way of the Midlands, Owen Real Estate, Tucker Oil, Homegrown Hospitality, Hughes Development, and public sector clients including University of South Carolina, Calhoun County, City of Hartsville, Dorchester School District Two, and Columbia Metropolitan Airport. We are also proud of the many residential projects we have completed throughout the Midlands region.
In 2016, we were honored to receive our first design awards: an AIA SC Merit Award for the Phase Two Renovations at Nickelodeon Theatre and an AIA SC Citation Award in Adaptive Reuse for simplesurance. In addition to being named an AIA SC Awards finalist, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church also received an Historic Columbia Foundation Preservation Award for Preservation/Restoration.
