1×1 Design Welcomes Nicholas Burger to the Team

July 29, 2014

COLUMBIA, SC – 1×1 Design is pleased to announce that Nicholas Burger, Associate AIA, has joined the team.  Nick earned his Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Clemson University in 2012 and will complete his thesis defense in August to gain his Masters of Architecture from The University of Tennessee.

Nick was very involved at both Clemson University and The University of Tennessee with the American Institute of Architecture Students, serving as the Clemson University Chapter President and the Graduate Director for the program at The University of Tennessee.  While at Tennessee, Nick also received an award for his design work, including the Eureca Jury Prize for a design-build installation of a steam bent wood bench in a local restaurant.

On the path to licensure, Nick has several summers of work experience with John J. Burger Architect P.C. in Fredericksburg, Virginia, focusing on commercial projects ranging from corporate upfits to recreational facilities.

“The entire 1×1 Design team is excited to have Nick join us,” states Asheley Scott, firm President.  “Nick already has experience in the profession, which is rare following the recent economic downturn.  We look forward to continuing to develop his design and productions skills in a professional environment, while also supporting him as he continues on the path to licensure.”
