2014 SC Waste Pesticide Recovery Collection Dates & Locations Set

September 17, 2014

October 13 – 16, 2014  ~

COLUMBIA, SC –  The dates and locations are set for the 2014 SC Waste Pesticide Recovery Program.  The South Carolina Department of Agriculture (SCDA) has established four locations across the state making it easy for South Carolina homeowners, farmers, foresters, nurserymen, golf course operators, and custom applicators to safely dispose of old, outdated, unusable, or unwanted pesticides. The goal of the program is to increase proper management and disposal of unwanted pesticides.

The program is free and open to all private, commercial, and non-commercial pesticide applicators in the state. Commercial applicators can bring up to 2,500 pounds of solid waste and up to 300 gallons of liquid pesticides at no charge.  However, commercial applicators will have to cover the cost for quantities over that limit and will need to notify SCDA.

Program Guidelines:

  • No fertilizers, household chemicals, compressed cylinders or empty containers will be accepted.
  • Pesticides include insecticides, herbicides, nematicides, fungicides and other similar products used in commercial agricultural production.
