2015 Candidates Set Off to Raise Over $150,000 in 10 Weeks

February 26, 2015

2015 Man & Woman of the Year Campaign Launch at Zen

UPSTATE, SC – The candidates have set a goal of raising $10,000 or more during their 10-week campaign and have a mission of not only raising funds for lifesaving blood cancer research, but also raising awareness for LLS’s mission: to cure leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma and to improve the quality of life for patients and their families. This year’s fundraising is in honor of two local patient heroes, the 2015 Boy and Girl of the Year: Landon and Emma.

The campaign will begin and end with two elegant events: the Kickoff Celebration on March 3rd  at Zen and the Champions of Hope Charity Event (Grand Finale) is at Zen in Greenville on May 7th.

“What happens between these two events is the heart of the race,” says Paul Jeter, Executive Director of LLS’s South Carolina Chapter. “Throughout the 10 weeks, each candidate will host events and motivate their networks to raise money for blood cancer research. The man and woman who raise the most money will be named as the local Man and Woman of the Year and go on to compete for national honors.”

Returning sponsors include: Pratt Industries, GSA Business, and The Greenville News. New campaign partners include Woodmont High School coming on as Presenting Sponsor, Gibbs Cancer Center, and ARC Drilling. Also returning is the campaign’s co-chair Nadine Lavigne of General Electric.

This year’s fundraisers span from the Upstate area to Charleston and all over the area geographically and professionally, but all have at least one thing in common: a commitment to raising money for the blood cancer research, advocacy and patient services.

The 2015 candidates are:

  • Craig Hardee, Allstate Insurance Company
  • Curt Hall, UBS Financial Services, Inc.
  • Elizabeth Thompson, Keys Innovative Solutions, An RR Donnelley Company
  • Eric Bonini, General Electric
  • Kelly McGee, Takeda Oncology
