2024 Southern Living Idea House coming to Kiawah River on Johns Island

May 13, 2024

Kiawah River, a waterfront community and the region’s first agrihood, announced that the community is the selected location for the 2024 Southern Living Idea House.

The Idea House at Kiawah River is a new 4,400 square-foot farmhouse that embodies the landscape of the Lowcountry, featuring outdoor living spaces with picturesque water views serving as the backdrop. The home will incorporate the work of many local creatives, like Charleston-based Andrea Cayetano-Jefferson of Gullah Sweetgrass Baskets and textile designer Rebecca Atwood.

“Southern Living is one of the South’s most iconic magazines, and we are honored to have been chosen as the location for this cherished tradition,” says Chris Drury, Broker-in-Charge at Kiawah River. “From its expansive waterfront views to its embrace of outdoor living, this year’s Idea House will exemplify all that Kiawah River is known for, and we are looking forward to welcoming residents and guests into the home and our community beginning this August.”

The Southern Living Idea House program has long served as a source of inspiration, from decor and design ideas to product recommendations. This year’s home will feature new shoppable experiences to allow visitors and readers to seamlessly incorporate a piece of the Lowcountry charm into their own homes.
Additional partners that have been chosen for this project include builder Dillard-Jones, architect MHK Architecture, interior designer Allison Elebash Interiors and landscape architect DesignWorks.

This year’s home will be open for public tours from August to December 2024 and tickets go on sale in June. The home will be featured on SouthernLiving.com and in the September 2024 issue of Southern Living, which will be available on newsstands August 23.
