Leadership Discovery applications now open

August 3, 2020

Leadership Discovery, presented by Charleston Southern University, is accepting applications until August 28. The 3-month program begins in September and has eight sessions designed to enhance valuable leadership skills.

Leadership Discovery is an innovative and skills-based leadership program that allows emergent leaders to learn from experienced regional leaders. Participants will build strong peer relationships, community connections and valuable leadership skills throughout the accelerated program experience. The Chamber continues to monitor regional COVID-19 numbers and hopes to host most of the sessions in-person in their boardroom. This venue will allow proper social distancing and adherence to CDC guidelines.

“Leadership Discovery exposed me to authentic leaders that were transparent about their highs and lows, which helped me understand that leadership is really a journey you take,” said Spring 2020 participant Eva Singleton. “It assured me that I am where I’m supposed to be in my leadership journey – not because I am perfect or “have arrived,” but because I am willing and committed to positive influence no matter what.”

The Fall 2020 program features an impressive lineup of presenters, providing participants with an opportunity to connect with and learn from some of our region’s top leaders in various industries. This session’s mentors include:

  • Greg Parker, Founder & CEO, Parker’s Kitchen
  • Ericka Plater, Executive Director, Our Lady of Mercy Community Outreach
  • Dr. Alan Shao, Interim Vice President, Corporate Partnerships; Dean, School of Business, College of Charleston
  • Dr. Mary Thornley, President, Trident Technical College

Additionally, each participant will receive a personalized DiSC Leadership Profile Assessment administered by Positively People and will attend a 3-course business etiquette dinner led by Cynthia Grosso of Charleston School of Protocol.
