Cities of West Columbia and Columbia unveil Joe E. Taylor, Jr. Way

The City of West Columbia and the City of Columbia, and state and local leaders, held an unveiling of Joe E. Taylor, Jr. Way at the West Columbia Riverwalk Amphitheater on Monday, September 18, 2023. Senator Nikki Setzler, Representative Micah Caskey, City of West Columbia Mayor Tem Miles, and City of Columbia Mayor Daniel Rickenmann all expressed Joe Taylor’s dedication to his cities, family, and career at the event.

Joe Taylor was a successful businessman who was instrumental in the growth of Southland Log Homes, a company that was formed by his father. Joe was Secretary of Commerce under former Governor of South Carolina, Mark Sanford. At the time of his passing in late December 2022, he was Councilman for the city of Columbia.
