Thank you for keeping our kids safe online
March 6, 2025As concerns over online safety grow, South Carolina lawmakers are leading the way with common-sense solutions that put parents back in control.
The App Store Accountability Act is a crucial step in ensuring that parents—not bureaucrats—decide what’s best for their children online.
This legislation requires app stores to provide clear, enforceable parental controls at the point of purchase—where they belong. By strengthening parental oversight, it ensures families have the tools to safeguard their children from harmful content without unnecessary government interference.
I want to thank Representative Wooten and other South Carolina leaders who stand up for families by supporting this bill. South Carolina continues to set a national example by advancing policies that protect children while preserving parental rights. As Washington debates heavy-handed federal regulations like the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA)—which would shift control away from parents—our state is proving there’s a better way.
I urge lawmakers at all levels to follow South Carolina’s lead and put parents back in the driver’s seat.
