4th of July celebration on Lake Murray

June 11, 2019

The Capital City/ Lake Murray Country Regional Tourism Board presents the 4th of July celebration on Lake Murray. The daylong celebration is scheduled for Saturday, June 29th and will begin with the annual boat parade at Noon and end with a spectacular fireworks show at dark.

Boat Parade participants are encouraged to register their boat to join the parade and decorate their boats according to this year’s theme “Light Up Lake Murray.” Boats will meet at Bomb Island at 12pm to parade toward the Lake Murray Dam for judging. The lead boat will host the judges and there are CASH prizes. The parade is viewable from the park sites at the Dam, the walking path on the Lake Murray Dam and by boat.

At dusk, fireworks will launch from two lake locations, Dreher Island and Spence Island. The fireworks show is synchronized to a patriotic music show. Tune into Cumulus stations to hear the show, 98.5 FM and 106.7 FM. The parksites at the Lake Murray Dam will be open all day on a first come to capacity basis.

“We began this holiday tradition in 1989 and today it has gained regional, statewide and national attention as South Carolina’s largest patriotic event and fireworks show. Over the years, these two activities have brought millions of people to Lake Murray.  Come join us on June 29th,” stated Miriam Atria, President/CEO, Capital City/Lake Murray Country Regional Tourism Board.
