CHARLESTON, SC – Charleston’s most historic restaurant, 82 Queen is turning 34 years-old this February 2016. 82 Queen was founded in 1982 pioneering the Lowcountry cuisine that Charlestonians know and love today. One dish that has remained unmatched since the opening of the restaurant 34 years ago is the She Crab Soup. In lieu of a 34th anniversary party, 82 Queen is celebrating the restaurant’s nationally acclaimed dish by donating $1.80 to One80 Place for every cup and bowl of She Crab Soup sold from February 1-13, 2016.

One80 Place provides food, shelter and hope to end homelessness and hunger one person at a time in Charleston. A dedicated staff provides all guests with critical supportive services including medical examinations, educational programs and courses, Veteran programs, counseling, along with legal and employment services. One80 Place is on a mission to turn the lives around of individuals, families and Veterans right here in Charleston.

Jonathan Kish, CEO of Queen Street Hospitality said, “We want to thank the community for allowing us to serve them for 34 years and counting. Our family is very passionate about giving back, so we wanted to do something a little different for our anniversary. We encourage everyone in the community to warm up with a bowl of our soup. And at the same time, you know you are providing people in need right here in our city with a different kind of warmth.”

One80 Place CEO, Stacey W. Denaux said, “Dining at 82 Queen is one this town’s most shared experiences. Their commitment to making our community a better place just further proves the value of this local icon. We are honored that 82 Queen is supporting our work to end homelessness.”

82 Queen’s She Crab Soup is made daily using fresh crab meat, vegetables, milk, cream, and crab roe – which is what gives the soup it’s beautiful color, savory depth, and name “she crab.” Every bowl of soup is topped off with a swirl of sherry wine to set off the decadent dish.

“I’ve served as the Executive Chef at 82 Queen for a total of 15 years. In that time I have made nearly 52,000 gallons of this soup, and I take great pride in serving this award winning recipe. So I invite everyone to take a special trip or two to 82 Queen to not only enjoy this dish, but to help support One80 Place,” added Executive Chef Steve Stone.

Come for lunch, brunch or dinner. The She Crab Soup will be available during all dining hours – $6 for a cup and $9 for a bowl. 82 Queen is open for lunch Monday – Friday from 11:30am – 3:00pm; brunch Saturday & Sunday from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm; and dinner Sunday – Thursday from 5:30 – 10:00 pm, and from 5:30 – 10:30 pm on Friday & Saturday.
