Badcock Home Furniture & More to Close All Stores by End of October – Liquidation Sale Starts in Laurens Location
July 31, 2024Badcock Home Furniture & More, a retail chain with over 380 stores across the southern United States, will officially close all its locations, including the one in Laurens, by the end of October. This decision comes seven months after the company was acquired by Conn’s HomePlus, which has since filed for bankruptcy.
The Laurens store, located at 917 East Main Street, is among those affected by the chain’s shutdown. The closures span across states such as Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Virginia.
Conn’s HomePlus’s financial struggles prompted these closures. In its fourth-quarter earnings call in April, Conn’s reported a total revenue decline of 7.8% year over year and a net loss of nearly $77 million for the year. As a result, more than 70 Conn’s branded stores, alongside all Badcock locations, will be closing.
To manage the closure, Badcock stores will remain open until approximately October 31st to conduct liquidation sales. These sales offer discounts of up to 50% off with all sales being final, providing a last opportunity for customers to purchase furniture and home goods at reduced prices before the stores shut down permanently.
The closure of Badcock Home Furniture & More marks a significant shift in the retail landscape for many communities. Known for its wide range of home furnishings and decor, the chain has been a staple for customers over the years.
