Introducing the Garnet & Blue Collective: Empowering Presbyterian College Athletes Through NIL Initiatives

September 11, 2024

The Garnet & Blue Collective is proud to announce its official launch as an independent organization dedicated to supporting Presbyterian College student athletes through Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) initiatives. With a focus on fostering growth, excellence, and community service, the Garnet & Blue Collective is committed to providing opportunities that allow PC athletes to thrive both on and off the field or court.

At the helm of the Garnet & Blue Collective is Danny Cook, who has been named Executive Director. Cook, a 1979 graduate of Presbyterian College, brings a wealth of experience from his successful 42-year career in banking and his current role as an adjunct professor at PC. Under his leadership, the Collective aims to make a significant impact on the lives of student-athletes by offering financial support and facilitating community service projects that align with Presbyterian College’s values.

“I am very excited about taking on this role as the Executive Director for the Garnet & Blue Collective, LLC,” said Cook. “We have hit the ground running and have not slowed down. It has been a great experience working with the student-athletes at PC and the coaches. I am certainly looking forward to what the future may hold for the Collective and how we may be able to truly help make a difference for many of the student-athletes here at PC.”

The Garnet & Blue Collective distinguishes itself from other NIL organizations through its commitment to service and community engagement. Every athlete supported by the Collective will participate in meaningful community service projects, embodying the motto “While we live, we serve,” which is deeply rooted in the traditions of Presbyterian College.

“Our vision is for this organization to function as a collective that is deeply committed to service and community engagement, just like our motto, “while we live, we serve,” said Dee Nichols, Athletic Director of Presbyterian College Athletics. “The Garnet and Blue Collective is a separate entity and necessary for our student-athletes to be able to engage more wholly in NIL opportunities. We are NOT soliciting funds that donors would otherwise donate to the Scotsman Club or Presbyterian College. We have carefully chosen the Board of Directors as individuals who embody our core values of service, and they will examine NIL opportunities involving community engagement and identify resources to fund these projects. Being an active participant in the collective is one more way to support the stellar student-athletes at Presbyterian College.”

The Garnet & Blue Collective operates independently and is not associated with the Scotsman Club or the Presbyterian College athletic department. Its mission is to create meaningful partnerships that enhance the collegiate experience of PC athletes while promoting the values that make Presbyterian College unique.
