South Carolina State Fair Underway Through October 19

The South Carolina State Fair is in full swing, running now through October 19 at the fairgrounds in Columbia.

Now in its 156th year, the fair continues to blend agricultural traditions with modern entertainment. Operated by the nonprofit State Agricultural & Mechanical Society of South Carolina, proceeds support statewide student scholarships—nearly $6 million awarded since 1997.

A Blend of Tradition and Thrills

Visitors can explore livestock exhibits, home arts and fine arts displays, and demonstrations of heritage crafts such as blacksmithing and glassblowing. The midway features nearly 70 rides, including new attractions like Downdraft, Flash Dance, and Mulligan Swing.

Live entertainment fills the grounds each day, with roving performers, stage acts, and three free circus shows included with admission. Food lovers can indulge in everything from deep-fried favorites to creative new treats, along with the beloved Cookie Kitchen exchange for kids’ coloring pages.
