Classical Cello and Piano Recital Set for January 23 in Clinton
January 17, 2026Classical music enthusiasts are invited to attend a free cello and piano recital featuring Richard Thomas and Andrew Sheffield on Friday, January 23, at 7:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Clinton.
The program will showcase a thoughtfully curated selection of chamber works highlighting both well-known and rarely performed composers. The evening will include duos by Hélène Liebmann, recognized as one of the earliest women composers to write chamber music, alongside works by Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos and a rare instrumental piece by Italian opera composer Francesco Cilèa.
Richard Thomas serves as Principal Cellist of the Anderson Symphony and teaches cello at the South Carolina School of the Arts at Anderson University, Lander University, and North Greenville University. His performance career and academic work have made him a familiar presence in classical music circles across the Upstate.
Joining him is pianist Andrew Sheffield, who teaches piano privately and serves as the accompanist for the Laurens County Choral as well as the pianist for Cornerstone Baptist Church in Clinton. Sheffield is known locally for his versatility and longstanding contributions to community music programs.
The recital is free and open to the public, offering an opportunity for the community to experience an evening of classical chamber music in an intimate setting.
